The Power of Vision

When I was young, I always dream about what I will be and what I want to be in the future. And my dreams were always changing at that time. After I go into college, I start to think about what my goal will be after I graduate. And I choose three of my dreams and become my real goals.

The first goal is my professional goal, which is the main and the most important goal. I want to have a job that can give me enough money for myself and my families to use. Of course it is not a hard goal to reach if I don't spend much. However, since I have another goal that needs money, it become more difficult to reach.

The second goal is my personal goal. I want to travel all around the world. This goal needs time and money to be done, so it will be the hardest goal for me. Even if I didn't travel all around the world in my life, at least I can travel some of the countries in the world. I already went to most of the Asia countries such as China and Korea.

The last goal is also my personal goal. I want to have a happy and healthy family life. I think this is the common goal that no one wants to have a sad family which always argue or so. I think it's not too hard to reach if we respect each other in our family.

According to the video “The Power of Vision” we watched last class, it told us that

Vision without action is just a dream.
Action without vision merely wastes time.
Vision coupled with action can make things happen!

and I agree with it. So, I will try my best to do something to reach my goal, not just letting my goal to be a dream.

I loved when i was young, my visions were limitless. But college was like a reality check. I too want to travel the world and see for myself some of life's wonders. I find the culture shock helps broaden my horizons. I think your last goal is the most important. Because If you accomplish all your goals and your not happy, than there is still more that needs to be done. A lot of people think that money and riches will make a person happy, but happiness begins inside. I wish you all the best in your journey to attain your visions :)

College is indeed the point where you're sent back to reality. But then, as long you have the determination, I'm pretty sure you could achieve. I have traveling as my goal too. I seriously think traveling is the best thing you could ever do. You learn new stuff and have fun at the same time. Go for it. Good luck.

Money is important, so do health and enjoyment. You pretty much described everything that a normal person wants and needs. I agree with you that a healthy family life. Some people dont tend to understand the importance of having a happy family, and I guess when they come to realize it, it is probably too late. By the way, how about your actions? You have not mentioned any action on your blog entry. Good luck with your goals.

Right, Vision should be worked together with action to make things happen. Most of accomplishments happen by efforts ,which are actions. There might be something which happens naturally without any actions. But I guess there’s no feeling of accomplishment at the end.

Having a job that can give you money is important. I hope you can be more considerate when you decide your career. One day I had one job which made lots of money but I realized later on that money is not everything. Because I was not interested with that job. I got bored easily whenever I went to work. It’s really a long story but what I am telling you is that I hope you can get a job which is related to your dream and your interest. I am sure you will be much better than me.

Also, having a family is important in your life. They are the ones who you can get rested and encouraged. I guess this is most common dream for everybody but it’s really hard to find someone who you hit it off. I hope you can be very considerate when you decide spouse in the future. As you said, respecting for each other is the key thing in marriage relationship. I saw lots of couple who got divorced because of no consideration of each others. I guess you will do great job when you get married to someone since you keep respect for each other in your mind.

Good luck~I wish you all the best for your dreams.

Wow, you have very similar goals as mine. Details are different but pretty much similar. I think everyone divided their goals into, two categories: Professional, and personal. Hope you achieve them

We have a similar goal to travel around the world. I think it'd be really nice to just explore and it'd be a big learning experience to see how the rest of the world compared to the world that we live in now. A healthy family is also really important to me, I hope it's important to everybody else too. What can money do if you can't enjoy it with the people you love.

I agree with you that our dreams always change. Compare to the dreams that I have when I was young to the dreams that I have now, the dreams that I had when I was young were more unrealistics. The dreams that I had when I was young were all about being a superstar and being a millionaire, or even being a scientist. Whenever I saw on the TV that sound interesting, I will aim those as my goals for the future. But as I start to grow up, I know that many of my dreams are not so realistic and most of my dreams might not be able to earn a stable income that can support my family. Therefore, the dreams that I have now were more close to reality.

I think that most people put having a stable job as their first goal. As you said, many of our goals need money in order to succeed. Therefore, in order for our other goals to succeed, having a stable job that can earn us a lot of money is necessary. I hope that after you earn enough money, you can start your other dreams. Good luck to you!

Its great that you want to travel around the world and see all it has to offer instead of just jumping into your job and staying buried in piles of work until retirement. I'm jealous that you've seen so much of Asia! I've backpacked through a few countries in Europe and have taken a roadtrip about halfway through the US but I've never been to Asia yet.
